<div dir="ltr">Good question, Krista! I would say whomever pays for the materials would be responsible for covering the cost. If the student's high school provides the prep materials, then the school should provide them in a format that is accessible for the student. That being said, I would encourage whomever is obtaining the materials to contact the company that publishes the materials to see what (if any) alternative formats are available. Whenever I get a pdf file from a publisher that doesn't read well due to, for example, ligature issues like "fi" or other problems, my first trial is putting it through the scan feature of pdf to pdf in Texthelp Read and Write Gold. I just did this with a book from Norton that was over 1100 pages last week and it turned out perfectly. I've been doing this for years.<br>

Hi Dori : if you cannot find an accessible version you might want to consider working with the book to convert it to a more accessible version with Omni Page Pro or Abbyy FineReader for the student (time consuming!)– or change the reading order in Kurzweil but I do not know if that will be compatible with the Natural Reader software<br>

I am helping my Disability Services Coordinator find an accessible version of an ebook provided by Pearson for a student. The name of the book is Nursing : A Concept-Based Approach to Learning, Volume I and II. We got a pdf version through AccessText but it is not accessible. This particular student is using Natural Reader and the reading order is all messed up.<br>

First of all, has anyone, by chance, run into this same issue with this exact book? If so, I'd love to know how you found an accessible version.<br>
<br>
Secondly, we are novices when it comes to this scenario. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what is the next best step for troubleshooting this? Would you suggest pushing back on Pearson to help us get an accessible version or would we be better served to just find a vendor who would re-mediate this document at a cost?<br>
