I have a friend/former roommate who has an intellectual disability, and this is the only way he writes (he previously used an app called SpeakIt, but switched to Apple dictation when he upgraded to a Siri-capable iPhone). I use it pretty extensively, myself, despite being a pretty quick typist, including on iPhone. <div><br></div><div>From a desktop standpoint, Macs have had dictation built in for at least a few years (an has allowed offline dictation since at least OS X 10.9, in 2013 or 14), but I haven’t used it in a long time.
