ca,Arial,sans-serif">THIS IS A 1OO% GRANT FUNDED POSITION</span></p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 15px"><span style="box-sizing:border-box;font-weight:700;font-family:Avenir-Heavy,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif">General Description of the Job<br style="box-sizing:border-box"></span>The mission of Student Accessibility Services (SAS), within the Office of Student Success, is to provide equal opportunities and equal access to education, programs, and activities for all students with disabilities at Delaware State University. SAS works collaboratively with University Partners to foster a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive University community.</p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 15px">In achieving this, SAS collaborates with and empowers individuals who have documented disabilities by working together proactively to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodative measures. In efforts to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and other current legislation and eliminate attitudinal barriers against people with disabilities, SAS also provides institution-wide advisement, consultation, and training on disability-related topics, including legal and regulatory compliance, universal design, and disability scholarship.</p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 15px">Under the direction of the Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS), the Student Accommodation Coordinator determines eligibility for accommodations for all students with disabilities enrolled in classes at Delaware State University and ensures appropriate implementation of accommodation plans. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of disability resources and legal compliance at the college level and be knowledgeable about best practices in providing appropriate accommodations within a rigorous educational program. In addition, they will assume the following responsibilities:</p><ul style="box-sizing:border-box;margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:10px;padding-left:20px;list-style-position:initial"><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Reviews disability documentation, engages in the interactive process with the student to identify barriers to full participation in the curricular and co-curricular environments, and determines reasonable accommodation in order to mitigate barriers and provide equal access to all programs, goods, and services offered through Delaware State University</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Provides individual and small group consultations on topics such as: the exam accommodation/proctoring process, self-advocacy, communication with faculty, academic strategies and general disability-related advising</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Facilitates the provision of accommodations and services including note-taking, adaptive technology, interpreting/transcribing services, readers, scribes, etc.</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Provides referrals to on-campus and community resources as appropriate</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Supports the Director in the production and analysis of data and reports</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Consults with faculty to support the implementation of student accommodation plans</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Provides guidance and information on disability-related topics to the campus community</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Maintains timely and accurate records of all student contacts</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Stays abreast of current legal issues and trends associated with supporting accessibility in the college setting; Maintains active attendance at conferences and professional meetings</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Other tasks and duties as assigned to support the mission of Student Accessibility Services.</li></ul><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 15px"><span style="box-sizing:border-box;font-weight:700;font-family:Avenir-Heavy,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif">Qualifications & Experience</span></p><ul style="box-sizing:border-box;margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:10px;padding-left:20px;list-style-position:initial"><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Master’s degree in counseling, education, educational psychology, social work, special education, or a related field</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Minimum of two years’ experience providing support to students with disabilities in a college or university setting</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">Demonstrated knowledge of ADA regulations and familiarity with issues in higher education and student development</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;padding-bottom:10px">An ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA and
