2023 lawsuit brought by 4 big publishers</a> prompted Georgia Tech to pull funding for ATN. While the lawsuit does not target disability services directly, the judge noted that the case for the defense rests on “the notion that lawfully acquiring a copyrighted
print book entitles the recipient to make an unauthorized copy and distribute it in place of the print book, so long as it does not simultaneously lend the print book.” The judge sided that there is no legal foundation for this kind of notion.
