Welcome to Winter Quarter 2023! These are important dates and information to note!



Academic Services:

Academic Services is available remotely via email, phone and Zoom. Our drop ins will primarily be through Zoom, and please note that appointments are limited at this time due to staffing changes. 

Applying for graduation:

-Students need to submit a graduation application through a Biology adviser by the 3rd Friday of their last quarter. Email is the quickest way to process this request, you would need to send your name, student number and quarter of graduation to patterj at uw.edu <mailto:patterj at uw.edu>.

-Advisers can submit a graduation application up to 3 quarters in advance* of the estimated graduation date. We recommend submitting a graduation application early in order to receive Graduating Senior Priority <https://registrar.washington.edu/registration/periods/> (GSP) registration for 2 quarters. See the deadlines listed below or in the Academic Calendar <https://www.washington.edu/students/reg/2223cal.html#Q4> for GSP. 

-Email an adviser or visit Zoom drop-Ins <https://washington.zoom.us/j/97207369544> to inquire about graduation applications. Be sure to include your student number and anticipated graduation date in the email.

*If you plan to graduate in Spring/Summer/Autumn 2023, contact an adviser to submit a graduation application. The deadline is Feb 8th for GSP registration for Spring/Autumn/ 2023. 

 

Important Dates for WINTER  2023

January 2: Application for Research Symposium opens

January 9: Biology Autumn Awards & Scholarship application open

January 9: Last day to withdraw or make changes in registration via MyUW without fees

January 10: Late add period – any registration changes have fees

January 13: Last day to apply to Biology Major for Winter– BY NOON

January 14 – April 7, ’23 Biology major Spring application open

January 16: Martin Luther King Jr - HOLIDAY

January 20: Last Day to Apply for Winter ’23 Graduation

January 20: Spring 2023-Time Schedule available

Academic Holds happen in week 3 of the quarter, please keep an eye on your email for notice of a hold or check your account.

January 22: Last day to add a course through MyUW

January 30: Biology, Awards & Scholarships CLOSES at 4:00 pm

February 8: Graduation application deadline to activate GSP* for SPR’.2023

February 10: Period 1-Registration for Spring 2023 Begins

February 12: Research Symposium Application Deadline

February 20: Presidents’ Day - HOLIDAY

February 27: Period 2 Registration for Spring 2023 Begins

March 10: Last Day to Drop (current quarter drop)

March 11 - 17 – Final Exam Week 

March 17: Last day to change to or from S/NS grade option

March 17: Quarter Ends

March 22: Grades officially post to transcripts
