Organization<span></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The mission of the Department of Comparative Medicine at the
University of Washington is<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">to foster knowledge and improve the health and well-being of
humans and animals by<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">advancing research and training in comparative medicine and

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Duties and
Responsibilities<span></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Maintaining surgical operating rooms and anesthesia
machines, maintenance and<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">sterilization of surgical packs and instruments, basic
office work tasks such as filing, faxing and<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">data entry. Maintaining drug and surgical equipment
inventory, setting up and cleaning up<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">after surgery. The opportunity to work with vet staff and
observe surgeries is allowed when<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">appropiate for interested and competent students.<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Minimum
Qualifications<span></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Application is open to currently enrolled, full time
students at the University of Washington.<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Students that are able to make a one-year commitment to the
position, including summer<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">quarter are preferred. Preference for Freshman, Sophmore,
Junior, Graduating June 2023 -<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">June 2025. Interest in biomedical research or veterinary
medicine is desirable.<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Educational Benefits<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Students will gain knowledge about the scientific process
especially with regard to animal<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">use protocols. Students will be exposed to veterinary
technicians and veterinarians working in<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">pathology and laboratory animal clinical medicine. Students
will have the opportunity to<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">become familiar with veterinary surgical equipment, surgery
set up and surgical suite<span></span></p>
