Hi everyone,

It is almost time for our monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up!
Please join us for another casual and friendly virtual meeting to discuss some accessibility challenges.

Topic 1: Review website/applications
Reviewing your site/application for accessibility is the main component of this meet-up and we all learn from such reviews.
As always, let me know if you would like to review your site/application for accessibility.

Topic 2: Office of Research Information Services Website Accessibility
Beth Outlaw and Rick Miller from Office of Research Information Services (ORIS) would like feedback on changes planned for the UW Office of Research website<https://www.washington.edu/research/> to improve accessibility. The Research Website is intended to provide research administration information for current and prospective UW faculty, staff, and students. Their team wants the Office of Research website to be easily readable by screen readers and the web page title headings to conform to accessibility best practices. They are seeking feedback on proposed code changes to reach consistent HTML heading tags for custom post templates.

Post Template Examples:

1. Forms & templates custom post type<https://www.washington.edu/research/forms-and-templates/application-status-report-renew-or-close/>
2. Announcement custom post type<https://www.washington.edu/research/announcements/current-employment-opportunties/>
3. Glossary custom post type<https://www.washington.edu/research/glossary/a-110/>

Additionally, we have also attached a word document created by Beth and Rick that details background information concerning the site, a problem statement, and proposed changes.

About Monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up

Our meetings usually consist of two 30 minute segments. The first 30 minutes of our meetings are dedicated to casually reviewing your projects. This generally includes lots of hands on testing and code review. If you are working on a project and would like to get accessibility feedback from your peers, please let us know and we will add it to the agenda. We always encourage you to bring your own sites and topics, as it is a great learning experience for everyone.

Then for the last half of the meeting we have some topics we would like to bring to you to discuss, although we may not have time to cover all of them in depth.
