Hi everyone,

It is almost time for our monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up!
Please join us for another informal and friendly virtual meeting to discuss some accessibility challenges.

Topic 1: Review website/applications (open agenda)
Reviewing your site/application for accessibility is the main component of this meet-up and we all learn from such reviews.
As always, let me know if you would like to review your site/application for accessibility.

Topic 2: onHover/onFocus effects and Split button
We will be discussing onHover and onFocus effects pros and cons on menus specially those with big mega menus. We will analyzing the newly developed menu by Mozilla that requires an extra click to see the submenu using keyboard and mouse.

Here's an example that I think keyboard users won't appreciate:

We will be also discussing using Split button in web applications and compare split button in desktop and web environment.
You can learn about Split button at: How To Create Split Buttons<How%20To%20Create%20Split%20Buttons>

Topic 3: Reviewing selected built-in accessibility features in Windows and Mac
Dan Comden will be showing some of the built-in accessibility features in Windows and Mac.

About Monthly Web Accessibility/Usability Meet-up
Our meetings usually consist of two 30 minute segments. The first 30 minutes of our meetings are dedicated to casually reviewing your projects. This generally includes lots of hands on testing and code review. If you are working on a project and would like to get accessibility feedback from your peers, please let us know and we will add it to the agenda. We always encourage you to bring your own sites and topics, as it is a great learning experience for everyone.
Then for the last half of the meeting we have some topics we would like to bring to you to discuss, although we may not have time to cover all of them in depth.

How to Join the Mailing List
We send our announcements typically a week prior to the meetup through various internal mailing lists, including the accessibleweb mailing list - which is open to the public. Please subscribe to that list to receive the announcements if you haven't already done it yet. You can do so by accessing this link:

Thanks and looking forward to talking to you,
