[AMP-L] Quad Amp Says Losing a Limb is ‘the best thing that ever happened to him’

A man who lost all of his limbs and half of his face after contracting a 
vicious infection says losing his arms and legs was the `best thing´ that 
ever happened to him.  

Alex Lewis was a stay-at-home dad when he started suffering from what 
he initially thought was a "human flu".  

It turned out that Alex had contracted Strep-A, a bacterial infection that 
quickly progressed to sepsis and toxic shock syndrome, a condition that 
can cause the body to release toxins that damage body tissues in the skin 
and members.  

The Briton was rushed to hospital where the decision was made to  
amputate his feet and arms, and he also needed a skin graft for his lips.
