Arkansas has joined New Mexico in passing So Kids Can Move
legislation through both houses of its state legislature. On April 5,
Arkansas HB 1252 passed the state senate 30-1, with a key amendment
to the original bill: The senate version limits coverage of
recreational prostheses to K-3 and K-4 amputees. The bill then went
back to the house, as amended, and passed there 95-0 on April 6. (The
original version had passed 89-7 on March 27.) Gov. Sarah Huckabee
Sanders signed the bill into law on April 13.

New Mexico´s governor formally signed the "So New Mexicans Can Move"
bill on April 7. New Mexico now boasts the most comprehensive
prosthetic coverage in the nation. Kudos to AOPA, the Amputee
Coalition, and above all to Kyle Stepp and Laura Lewis, the two
citizens who championed the bill at the grassroots level. What an
incredible achievement. If you´re not familiar with the bill, get all
the deets here. Our May edition will have complete coverage of this
landmark legislation.
