via Manufacturing Business Technology:

The Wisconsin manufacturer received eight reports of injuries before
issuing a recall.

Generac Power Systems, Inc. agreed to pay a $15.8 million civil
penalty regarding its Generac and DR 6500 and 8000 Watt portable
generators. The penalty follows a failure by the Wisconsin
manufacturer to immediately report a product hazard.

Between 2018 and 2020, the company received reports of the portable
generator´s unlocked handle partially amputating and crushing
consumers´ fingers.

The incidents occurred while consumers attempted to move the portable
generators. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission,
five finger amputations occurred before Generac filed a report.
