Position: ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY LAB MANAGER (student affairs
administrator)

Annual full-time position salary: $35,004, negotiable depending on

Purpose of this position: To assist in the Services for Students with
Disabilities office, working primarily to oversee the assistive
technology/adaptive equipment of the area, supervising student staff, and
backing up other staff.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. A combination of three years
experience administering student programs and/or developing student programs
(Master's degree substitutes for up to two years of the AMOUNT of experience
above; however, the KIND of experience is required). Nine hours substitutes
for six months of experience (up to one and one-half years). Experience
with assistive technology and working with people with disabilities.
Experience in selection, training, and supervision of staff. Excellent
interpersonal skills.
Professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in field related to the program
to be administered. Experience providing or coordinating academic
accommodations that require assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
Ability to determine appropriate academic assistive/adaptive accommodations.
Experience in disability case management. Experience interpreting the
Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of
1973 and University policies related to disability issues. Experience in
the coordination of multiple services, problem solving, management, and
evaluation. Word processing experience.
Knowledge of trends and information sources regarding assistive technology
and adaptive equipment. Graduate coursework in Special Education or
Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Experience with Macintosh, PC, and
Braille translation and adaptive software. Excellent organizational skills.
Experience with design and maintenance of databases.

Essential Functions: Recruits, trains, and supervises student assistants
for the assistive technology lab and for the text in an alternative format
program. Coordinates adaptive/assistive accommodations for students with
disabilities, including adaptive testing, Braille translation, texts in
alternative formats and other related services. Assists with the design and
maintenance of database for management and reporting. Maintains records on
loaned equipment, borrowed material, etc., for all students with
disabilities. Serves as a member of the SSD team, participating in office
strategic planning, programming, and advising.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some
flexibility in hours may be required for staff coverage in the Assistive
Technology Lab; to be discussed in advance with supervisor. Additional
hours may be required during peak periods.

Working Conditions: Exposure to standard office conditions. Repetitive use
of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
Professional demeanor mandatory.
