[Athen] Webcam

Hi,
I just wanted to reintroduce myself, my name is Kevin Price and I am looking
forward to be active in ATHEN again.  I took a hiatus to try some different
things (sales, DBTAC, voc rehab) but now I am back working in the University
environment with the University of Illinois at Chicago.  (I had previous
been working with UCLA, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Cal State
University, San Bernardino)

Has anyone worked with webcams as an accommodation for students with
disabilities who needed access to a class?  I see a several problems but
wonder if anybody actually has tried webcams and had any success (or lack of
success).  Seems like webcams would be too grainy of picture quality and
wouldn't allow for enough interaction by a student (a traditional distance
ed course has avenues for communication built into the course).
Do you have any ideas from your experiences?

I've been working on a Camtasia project and there is a work around to put
captions at the bottom.  You have render everything as a video file with the
captions on the bottom and then bring that file in again and then render it
as Flash.  The captions are not optional then.  Supposedly the 3.0 version
of Camtasia put captions on the bottom when output to Flash so it is
possible to do that again, I'd say.
