[Athen] Stats and screen readers

Ron,

I have had the "opportunity" to work with JAWS and SAS. SAS does not
work well with JAWS out-of-the-box and I have not found any JAWS
scripts. Basically, there are six to eight child windows in the SAS
main window that do different things. Different child windows require
different JAWS settings to interact with different window types. For
example, read-only windows like the Results and Log windows need to be
read with the JAWS cursor and the PC cursor. I wrote a very basic set
of JAWS scripts that makes changing the settings a bit faster. I have
worked with two students who have successfully used SAS for classes:
however, they both would much rather use SPSS with the scripts included
with JAWS. I can easily ask questions of one of the above students. If
you have specific questions I would be happy to pass them along.

Thanks that is good info,

Now how about screen readers especially those of you who are doing grad
level work and have to use them with these products.

I used Dragon naturally speaking with all the versions of SPSS up to
version 13. It was a little cumbersome but it definitely worked.
