The only way to share data between 2 computers using a USB cable is like this:
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/248 (Need a special "bridged" USB cable).

This kinda acts in the same way as an Ethernet Crossover Cable that enables you to share data between 2 computers.

Yet another way is to setup an Ad Hoc network between both computers, but you need a wireless adapter on both computers to do this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/bowman_02april08.mspx

Third way is like Sue Kelmer said is to plug them both into the network and then gain access to each computers resources that way.

There are three basic types, the wills, the won'ts, and the can'ts. The wills accomplish everything, the won'ts oppose everything, and the can'ts won't try anything.

Subject: [Athen] connecting 2 PCs running XP

I am sure this can be done and probably is not difficulty but I just don't
understand the steps. . . .

I have 2 laptops running Windows XP. I'd like to run a cable from a USB in
one to a similar USB in the other that would let me access files on the
other's hard drive as if it were an external drive.

Anyone know what is involved or know where I might find instructions on the
Internet.

Norm
