The Director provides programmatic, managerial, and intellectual leadership
for a unit with over 20 FTE and an annual budget of approximately $1.8
million. The Disabled Students Program (DSP) works to ensure that all
students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities at
Berkeley and helps students achieve academic and personal success.

DSP offers a wide range of services for eligible students with verified
disabilities, including academic accommodations, attendant referral
assistance, student grants, auxiliary services, assistive technology,
alternative media, financial aid and course advising, special classes for
students with disabilities and a residence program for students with
physical disabilities who require attendant care. Additionally, DSP offers
proctoring to faculty and access services to departments that need to
arrange accommodations for their events and activities. DSP is also home to
a TRIO Student Support Services grant from the US Department of Education
and a contract with the California Department of Rehabilitation.

The Director will provide vision and leadership for the campus in delivering
services for students with disabilities and oversee subject matter experts
in various disabilities, the Assistive Technology Center, Alternative Media
Services, the online student services system, Proctoring Services,
Disability Access Services, the Disabled Students' Residence Program, and
extramural grant programs. The Director will oversee facilities in three
locations on campus, manage the online student services system, and assure
that all programs are accessible to students with disabilities. The Director
will provide direction on developing policies and procedures that affect
students with disabilities, respond to the needs of expanding populations of
students with disabilities, and establish short- and long-term programmatic
goals and objectives aligned with the Division for Equity and Inclusion.

Requires an advanced degree, Ph.D. preferred, expertise in disabilities. The
successful hire will have proven leadership skills, superior interpersonal
and communication skills, as well as program, project management and
administrative skills.
