Position Announcement:

The Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS) plays a leadership role in
assistive/adaptive technology, and while working primarily with students
having visual impairments, mobility impairments, learning disabilities,
temporary medical conditions or other disabilities as needed, also functions
as a resource to faculty and staff to determine technological interventions
and processes for students to maintain an accessible learning environment.

Duties include assessing assistive/adaptive technology needs, recommending
appropriate and cost effective systems to enhance access; training users on
recommended technology; managing document conversion program (from print to
audio or Braille), providing expertise in electronic web access issues; and
providing technical support where appropriate.

A commitment to a workplace that intentionally fosters a meaningful
educational experience for all students is expected.

Master's degree in Rehabilitation Technology, Rehabilitation Engineering,
Occupational Therapy, Computer Science, Rehabilitation Counseling,
Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field
and 1 year of related experience preferred; or Bachelor's degree and two
years of experience, Associate's degree and four years, or combination of
education and experience equal to six years.

Experience supporting college students in use of assistive technology;
including current software such as JAWS, remote captioning, Braille
production and translation software. Knowledge of clinical documentation
review under ADA.

This position is an 80% time (4 day work week year round), 3 year term
position with potential to be permanently funded after 3 years.
