		The Eleventh Annual Multiple Perspectives conference
continues our tradition of exploring  disability as both a reflection of
the human condition and the environment seen through the lenses of art,
law, societal and individual experience.  Multiple Perspectives  reaches
across typical divisions between disciplines and communities focusing on
the intersection of disability with education & employment; scholarship
& service; business & government; religion, race, gender & ethnicity.

participants to step back from the daily demands of access and reflect
on tools and strategies needed to transform a commitment to justice and

Conference fees will be waived and lunch provided for presenters of
accepted proposals. Presenters are responsible for their own travel and
lodging.
		

		UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT POSTER COMPETITIONS
		At the Eleventh Annual 
		Multiple Perspectives on Access, Inclusion & Disability
		May 4th, 2011
		On the Ohio State University's Columbus Campus
		
		The  Multiple Perspectives Conference encourages
students to network with professionals, the community, and scholars  who
share their interests in disability at its annual student poster
reception.  A generous gift from the Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation
will fund awards (Graduate Research - $500; Undergraduate Research $200,
Art & Performance $200 and Community Service $100, Class Projects $100
at this year's competition.  
		Submissions may be based on:
1.	Class Projects & Papers 
2.	Independent & Supervised Student Research  
3.	Community Service & Applied Problem Solving from Service
Learning Classes or student organizations
4.	Art & Performance 
		
		Posters can take  a variety of forms including print
material mounted on poster board or display panels or arranged on a
table; PowerPoint presentations, web pages or video presentations from
your laptop ...   
*	Presentation materials must fit on a 3'x6' table or along 6' or
less of wall space 
*	Presentation materials should present the information in 10
minutes or less
*	Presenters must provide their own equipment

Students and teams of students who wish to present a poster must send
the following information to ADA-OSU at osu.edu no later than March 31,
2011
1.	Title 
2.	Short Title - 12 word maximum
3.	Description of their proposed poster topic - 150 word maximum
4.	E-mail address, phone number, and surface mail address of
coordinating presenter 
5.	As appropriate, university, department, grant, course or student
organization affiliation 
6.	A letter of support from a faculty member or organization
advisor associated with the project 
		
		Submissions will be reviewed as they arrive; selected
participants will be notified within 2 weeks of submission. Conference
fees will be waived  and lunch provided for all accepted presenters.

OF NOTE:
This year will mark the inaugural Ethel Louise Armstrong Memorial
Lecture.  A free public presentation that will compliment the continuing
Ken Campbell policy lecture sponsored by the Columbus Advisory Committee
on Disability Issues with a focus on culture, arts & disability.   We
are partnering with the President and Provost's Diversity Lecture &
Cultural Arts Series to present FLAME on Wednesday, May 4th 2011 from
4-6.  

FLAME is an international touring band made up of eleven people with
disabilities, including autism, Down's syndrome and blindness.  They are
featured in the 10/17/2010 edition of people Magazine will be releasing
"Outside the Lines" their fourth CD and first with all original music in
early December.  FLAME's musical range is as diverse and their members
with covers of Brown Eyed Girl, Black Magic Women, Summertime, Proud
Mary and Another Brick In The Wall.  On Good Morning America the band
stated "We hope to change the world and the way people with disabilities
are viewed through music"
