Hi All,

I'm incumbent Vice President of ATHEN, but I do not intend to seek another two-year term. I plan to continue being active in ATHEN, but I'm also serving as chair of the EDUCAUSE IT Accessibility Constituent Group, which now has roughly 200 members and a long list of action items following its annual meeting at last week's EDUCAUSE conference. This means two things: (a) I'm too busy to perform both functions well, and (b) the diversity of our field can be better represented if there's diversity in its leadership.

So, as you read this, if you have an interest in joining a fun and competent officer team in leading ATHEN to realize its goals, please consider serving as Vice President.

The duties of Vice President are defined in the by-laws (http://athenpro.org/node/23)  as follows:

5.3.2. The Vice President shall assume the duties of the President in his or her absence and shall have such powers and duties as prescribed by the President. The Vice President shall work with the Program Committee.

And the duties of the Program Committee are defined as follows:

7.2.3. The Program Committee will prepare and recommend to the Executive Council a program of activities for the coming year to include dates and places for these activities. It will serve as the organizing committee for the annual meeting.

Good morning all, I hope your all doing well and looking forward to seeing many of you at AHG in a few weeks.

It is time once again to think about the ATHEN elections.  With the changes to our bylaws last year we are seeking nominations from current ATHEN members for the positions of Vice President and Treasurer for a two year term of office.  Secondly I am collecting Agenda items for this year's Business meeting at the AHG conference.  The Business meeting will be on Wed Nov 16th from 6:30 pm to approximately 8:00 with the location to be determined.
