Hello All:

One of the questions I asked on our evaluation survey for our first webinar
(on captioning) was "what topics would be of interest for future webinars?'

The one that came up repeatedly was system-wide or campus-wide change for
digital access. I've termed it: Strategies & Case Studies for Implementing
Digital Access on the College & University Campus

I came up with 3 segments or topic divisions for the agenda, listed below. I
think this webinar might call for at least 2 speakers per segment. If you
are interested in speaking on any of the topics listed below, let me know.
Also, any suggestions or feedback on the agenda itself are more than
welcome.

Proposed Agenda Segment 1: Practices at the Exemplary Universities

Because of his experience surveying other institution's web pages (&
developing tools to do this), I thought Jon Gunderson (I haven't discussed
this with him yet - Jon, I'll send you a separate email) would be the most
appropriate speaker for this segment, talking overall about best practices;
what are the universities rated with the most accessible websites (see
http://chronicle.com/article/BestWorst-College-Web/125642/) doing to
encourage and implement accessibility? What is done at the UIUC to promote
and ensure accessibility?

In addition, another speaker from one of the top rated universities for
accessible websites talks about what their campus does.

Segment 2: Implementing a campus-wide Digital Accessibility Policy: Case
Study(s)

Include: How are areas such as multimedia, Course Management Systems &
Distance Education addressed?
Segment 3: Building partnerships and collaborations on campus

1. Building the partnerships and collaborations on campus needed for
effective system change towards Universal Design.

2. Building collaboration on campus: assembling a campus-wide
accessibility committee; selling accessibility to resistant faculty;
obtaining the buy-in of IT.
