Department Statement


Accessibility Services provides services and resources to the campus
community. Accessibility Services objectives are to ensure an inclusive
campus with accountability, by promoting the dignity, self-awareness, and
self-advocacy of all individuals with disabilities throughout the University
and its activities. The Accessible Media and Testing Coordinator works in
the Accessibility Services Department and reports to the Accessibility
Services Director.









About the Position


The Accessible Media and Testing Coordinator (AMTC) manages the Accessible
Media Lab and daily coordination of Accessible Testing accommodations for
eligible students that are registered with Accessibility Services. The AMTC
Coordinator ensures the University's compliance with the various state and
federal laws, coordinates the labs production of textbooks and course
readers in alternative formats, manages the technical aspects of alternate
media production, and communicates directly with university faculty and
publishers regarding alternate media textbooks and course readers. These
duties require the incumbent to hold a high degree of specialized computer
technology knowledge. In addition, the AMTC Coordinator provides daily
organization and scheduling of requests for accessible testing environments,
equipment, and furniture for students. The AMTC will facilitate ongoing
collaboration between faculty and the Accessibility Services Department.









Responsibilities


Provide daily coordination of the Accessible Media Lab. Perform a variety
of advanced responsibilities requiring the experience of current
technologies that provide for the conversion of textbooks, readers, and
tests into alternate formats for students with print disabilities. Provide
daily administration and supervision of Accessible Media production and
staff. Develop and implement policies, procedures, training and
accountability to accomplish an efficient and productive system for delivery
of all accessible materials produced. Provide daily Coordination of
Accessible Testing (AT) Accommodations. Supervise and train Work Study and
Student Assistant proctors. Develop and implement policies, procedures,
training and accountability for Work Study and Student Assistants. Perform
outreach duties as necessary to facilitate staff, student, and faculty
understanding of Accessible testing and media policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned (collaborations, committees, documentation,
material development, cross training with colleagues, etc.)









Requires


Equivalent to four years of related experience. Two years of college with
sixteen units in related courses may substitute for one year of experience.
Four years of college with sixteen units in related courses may substitute
for two years of experience. Demonstrated ability to communicate
effectively with diverse student, faculty, staff and community is essential.










Preferred Skills & Knowledge


BA/BS in Computer or Information Science or related field; certificate in
Assistive Technology preferred; experience working with individuals with
disabilities. Knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems, text to MP3s
Conversions; experience using media libraries (CAM, AMX, Teas Book Exchange,
and RFB&D); network access including CP/IP protocols and services; tactile
graphics and data backup practices.









Salary


Salary range: $4,053.00/mo. to $6,080.00/mo. PLEASE NOTE: It is anticipated
the starting salary will be between $4,053.00/mo. to $5,792.00/mo.
