[Athen] RE: captions when video on streaming server

Hi Dean,

It seems that the (formerly) accepted way of using an ASX file that contains
a reference to a WMV or AVI file with a reference to a SAMI file as a
parameter does not work reliably any more.

If you have an FLV or MP4 and want to embed a player in a web page pointing
to a streaming source, you can use our player: http://go.osu.edu/jwpc, which
is fully accessible.

If you want to embed the caption track in a single file and stick with MOV,
I would recommend using iSubtitle. It's the best application I know of for
delivery of captioned/subtitled video within a native application (that is,
not via a browser). I've never tried to stream these sorts of files from a
streaming server, but MOV files can be streamed and since the captions are
baked in, there likely won't be any issues. (If you can confirm that it
works, please let me/us know.)

Best,

ken
