[Athen] RE: Scan to Readable PDF Question

To my mind, it would not so much be the scanner but the associated software, which would need to perform the OCR on the image based PDF. The software does not need to be tied to the scanner in terms of deciding what to get. There are a # of programs that would do this, including Acrobat Pro, PDF Aloud, any standard OCR program, etc. My guess would be that programs that come with lower cost scanners could be less accurate.

Subject: [Athen] Scan to Readable PDF Question

Greetings!

I have a friend who lives in Ghana. He has low vision and uses Zoom Text. He has asked me about scanners that scan text directly into readable PDFs. Does anybody know if this exists? Does Zoom Text have OCR built into its code?

Thank you!

Dave
