[Athen] speech recognition on iPad Pro

Even though Dragon Dictation is still available for the iPad, please note that the app has not been updated by Nuance for over three years (Feb. 2013).

You might want to consider Nuance’s Dragon Anywhere <http://www.nuance.com/for-business/by-product/dragon/dragon-anywhere/index.htm> (for iOS and Android), which works in conjunction with certain Dragon desktop software. It’s definitely not free (it’s a subscription service), but it includes many of the features of their desktop speech recognition such as creating text macros and custom vocabulary (both synched with the desktop versions), as well as robust formatting, editing, and document navigation by voice.

Also, unlike the Dragon Dictation app, one can see words transcribed in real time as they are spoken (no Record, then Stop to send) and there are no time limits. Of course, you still need to be online to use it.

I’m using this with an elderly woman who has physical limitations — it’s become her preferred speech recognition system. (She also uses Dragon Dictate on a Mac.)
