Hello Howard, Vanessa, et al,
I am a native screen reader user and eLearning accessibility tester. I
primarily use JAWS and my testing/user experience so far has been in D2L,
MediaSpace, and Google aps for education.
While I have not created a training document for D2L with a screen reader, I
think this is a good idea and would be very interested in making one. Please
contact me off-list if this is something you would be interested in having
me create.

Best,
Tristen Breitenfeldt

Hello All,

We are looking into upgrading our assistive technology available to students
for testing, general use, and for lending out. Like many of your campuses,
funds are very limited. Do you have any suggestions of what organizations,
agencies, etc. might have grant funding opportunities or potential to
assist? Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Hi Hadi, et al,

I had a screenreader user contact me about training for D2L, both from a
student and teacher perspective. Do you (or anyone else) have any resources
you could suggest?

Thanks,
Howard

D2L has a document they created called Accessibility in Brightspace Learning
Environment - Learner
Guide<https://community.brightspace.com/resources/documentation/learning_env
ironment/accessibility_in_brightspace_learning_environment_learner_guide>.
Perhaps this is useful?

We also use D2L, and I?d be very interested what other folks have to say
about making this system as accessible as possible.

On a personal note, I?ve found that NVDA and Firefox work better for some
parts of D2L than NVDA with Chrome. I haven?t tested JAWS in D2L. Please
note that I?m an intermediate novice screen-reader user, so it could be user
error.

Best,
Vanessa

I would say that NVDA and Firefox are always going to be a more optimal
combination than NVDA with Chrome, given how closely the "NVDA guys"
work with Mozilla.

In fact, I'd put NVDA and Chrome as a low priority for any testing,
except with Google products, specifically.
