[Athen] Read Speaker Thoughts

Hi Kellie

Can you clarify a little bit? Neither R&W Gold nor ReadSpeaker are screen readers per se. R&W gold is a literacy solution on the user’s computer (either as a desktop application or is a plug-in in the Chrome browser) aimed particularly at those with learning disabilities. My understanding is that ReadSpeaker is embedded on your web site, not on the user’s computer, to give your site text to speech functionality.

In other words, one does not replace the other. ReadSpeaker is a UDL solution, sure, but R&W gold has functionality on the user’s computer specifically designed for students with learning disabilities.

I hope this helps

Our institution is considering switching our screen reader from Read and Write to ReadSpeaker.
Can those of you that are currently using ReadSpeaker please share your thoughts on this product?

Thank you kindly,
