If you want to convert the ePub to a PDF format I use PDFMate. It is a free download ad conversions are all free. I am sure they will sellyou a version, but I have been quite successful with this.

I need to know what reader(s) to recommend for a sighted student needing to hear text and math in an ePub3 file. I'm told it can be done. But so far, I'm not coming up with anything that will read the math that is not a screenreader.

EquatIO or CAR? I'm thinking out loud, the epub format stymies me a bit.
Any mechanism for conversion?

CAR is no longer effective on word files with mathtype, so we aren?t even going there.

EquatIO is not a full reader, only a screenshot reader for equations. This does not give a smooth reading experience for the student.

Thanks for you feedback! Yes. I am having my own struggles with EquatIO over here but one can always hope. Thanks. Please keep posting to list I am having a very similar struggle with a student who is not blind and has a lot of heavy chemistry formulas to go through. EquatIO is making a mess. I had such high hopes for that software!

Equatio works, it just has some tricks to it. Like don?t select ANYTHING but the equation. It won?t read text, only the equation.

Yes. Totally I get that.
For example, it reads "normal triangle" instead of "Delta." It reads "Number two" instead of "N O subscript 2" "M- O- L" instead of mol "mole"
This is EquatIO I'm talking about not Read and Write. She actually ended up reverting to Read and Write after a trial of both software and simply watches very closely as she's reading. She's a pre medical student so its going to be heavy math and science all the way for her.

Susan,

Is the bug with MS Word or with MathType? Is it a problem between the pre-Wiris buy out of Design Science and the newest release of MathType (vs the previous standalone or download version)?

Very curious since I'm putting together the modules for math accessibility for my grad class at CUNY and want to be able to provide the most accurate, up-to-date info.

As far as we can tell, it is a CAR problem. The mathML files we are making work perfectly with a screenreader.

EquatIO is not a full reader, only a screenshot reader for equations. This does not give a smooth reading experience for the student.

EquatIO or CAR? I'm thinking out loud, the epub format stymies me a bit. Any mechanism for conversion?
