[Athen] Resetting Smart Pens

Is it necessary to archive it first, though? We have a statement that
informs students that, upon turning in equipment, it gets wiped, so they're
responsible for archiving themselves. In fact, the student worker
computers only have the smartpen flash utility installed. Should this be
OK, or do I have to install Echo Desktop and make archiving the pen the
first step before wiping it with the flash utility?
