[Athen] Abbyy Finereader Processes

Thanks, Mary. I am working with Version 15, but have not worked with Abbyy in probably more than 10 years, so I’m starting fresh. I am trying to figure out how to use it in a similar way that we use Omnipage, as we take many many PDFs to Word for vision-impaired students. It seems powerful, but it also seems to be not so intuitive or straight-forward. So any info people have will be helpful to me.

And also, I’ll be adding this information to my Alternate Format Production Manual in June when I make my yearly updates. I want the information to be complete and accurate.

Hi all,

I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who uses ABBYY, especially folks who have updated to v. 15. We've run into some issues with the resolution on PDF documents that we save from ABBYY, and I'd love to hear from anyone who has had that issue (and solved it!) since none of the settings we've tried so far have fully solved the issue.

Susan (and all), we are actually working on updating our step-by-step ABBYY materials this term! (We have some now, but they are pretty brief and tend to be most useful in an in-person training setting - that's why we are updating to standalone documents.) When we have those done, I'd be happy to share!

Thanks all,
Mary

I’d be interested in this as well. I just bought Fine Reader to access PDF documents instead of using acrobat Pro DC…yes, it has come to that…but don’t think I’m using it to its full potential.

Greetings. I’m home with a nasty virus, so catching up on some old topics and trying to learn something new.

Does anyone have a written procedure for using Abbyy to scan and OCR files to multiple outputs (word, PDF, etc.)? We are and have always been an Omnipage shop, but I feel like we need Abbyy in our toolbox as well. I’m most interested in step-by-step type materials, if you have them.

Thanks in advance for keeping me occupied during my incarceration (I’ve been stuck in the house since Friday, and I’m starting to get restless…).
