[Athen] Eye gaze technology (Colon, Nicolette)(Tamara Mariotti)

Eye Tracking can be used with Dragon, however, drawing can be highly inaccurate and difficult, especially if you’re using it to draw intricate lines, curves, circles, etc. You can use eye tracking with drawing software such as paint that have “stencilized” or pre-programmed shapes that would assist with drawing.

I recommend looking into Tobii Tech for their external eye tracker that can be used with Windows Laptops (newer).

Eye strain…the more you use it, the better you can understand when to pause and rest etc. At first the user will likely feel as if they have to always stare at the computer screen. It definitely takes months of getting used to.

Reach out if you have any questions 😊

Filtering this out through a few lists - and wanted to see if anyone here has run into a similar issue.

Student reports Respondus LDB locks up when logging in with ZoomText. Student must authenticate into LMS with Duo 2FA and says after successful login, Respondus becomes unresponsive.

I'm reading through documentation provided by Respondus and it seems ZoomText is documented to be compatible with Respondus LDB, but wanted to know if anyone here knew differently?

Thanks in advance! :)

Best,
J

Hello!

My name is Lucy Jiang, and I?m part of a group of students at the
University of Washington who are *conducting research about audio
description services at universities around the country*. Our goal is to
identify common patterns across universities and to come up with actionable
ways to improve the university experience for blind and visually impaired
students.

We would be very grateful if you took 5-10 minutes of your time to
fill out *our
short survey* <https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2F5WXTx5DfRvGgKmb19&data=04%7C01%7CLoyaltruong%40mines.edu%7Ca1a130a309e54b5805fd08d9513118f0%7C997209e009b346239a4d76afa44a675c%7C0%7C0%7C637630094173076540%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=DOqPXF07P9x2PMA6erIXf944QH9NBttuzy%2FKw6WoLww%3D&reserved=0>. We?ve also provided
some space in the survey for you to add your contact information if you
would like to stay updated with our progress or keep in touch.

Thank you so much,
Lucy Jiang

This is not eye gaze, but if there is any movement of the head, you might be able to use this SmartNav Head Tracker which has worked well for people I have worked with and the cost is reasonable.

The trials are typically free.

It is more about the access point to which the person requires, and if there is someone that can provide an assistive technology consultation, that might be the best way to know what might work for them. The Vocational Rehabilitation program in your state might be able to assist with that consultation.
