I could be off in my version numbers? I know here, in MN we are on 3.xxx not
exactly sure, but the last I heard Oracle was in 6.X and that was a while
ago.

And . there may be other components, I believe "Peoplesoft Tools" are
components used to customize their pages for local use.

Hi all,

According to my information, the University of Arizona just upgraded to 8.59
of PeopleSoft tools. I'll need to verify this based on Dave's information
that Oracle is working on versions 5 or 6..

I have found a mixture of accessible/inaccessible components. We have some
items that I believe were developed in-house, such as an HTML version of the
W2 generated information, which makes for a more accessible experience in
reading that complicated table of information. Additionally, on the student
side, I've had to work with developers to create more accessible versions of
their forms. We also recently worked with a vendor to "modernize" our
student center since students weren't happy with the look and non-mobile
device access that our PeopleSoft tools provided. This modernization turned
out to be a big win for usability and accessibility - we're still working
through some items but overall, it's a much better experience for all
students than PeopleSoft was. Now, if we could only make that happen on the
employee side (smile).

If anyone wants to learn more about our efforts at UArizona, feel free to
reach out!

I have found this topic to be a potential quagmire. I work for the state of
Minnesota and we use PeopleSoft for various things. We have reported
various accessibility problems, and bugs over the years, and Oracle has
allegedly corrected many of them. This is inter prise software though, and
most entities are slow to upgrade, because of the complexity of things.
Every time we do, something else breaks. We are on version 3.5 or 3.6, or
something like that. Oracle is working on a flavor of version5, or 6, I
understand, so any potential fixes are years away for us.

So, depending on your version, your problems may have been fixed -- but it
is hard to know!

ATHEN colleagues,

Here in Washington state the community college system is using PeopleSoft
software by Oracle which is branded as ctcLink. There are a number of
accessibility issues and the process each college must go through is
reporting in detail what it is they are encountering to members of the state
board. That group must then report these issues to Oracle in an attempt to
get these resolved.

I imagine that there are other higher education people across the country
who are also using PeopleSoft (or some rebranding of it) who could benefit
by joining forces to get accessibility issues resolved similar to how joint
efforts a few years back led to productive dialogues to get Canvas LMS
accessibility improved.

Thoughts and ideas from you all?

I?m going to put this out there first and foremost, I have no idea what questions to ask and how to ask the questions I need to know/ask but here goes. I?m looking into getting a small (?) format (?) 3d printer. I have two blind students who know basic Braille (one better at it than the other one) who are taking intro chem and physics. Has anyone successfully printed the periodic table in 3d? Are there special techniques? Do you have the plans (?) you can share or direct me where I can find them? We have a license for Fusion 360 if that?s helpful. Oh, and I have a deaf/blind student coming Spring 2023. Lawd have mercy on me - this will be my first.
Any other tips/hints are greatly appreciated. I did attend the ATHEN STEM conference last week and am going back over the presentation to glean more information, but thought I?d stop here as well.
This is the first time in 20 years that we?ve had students who use Braille! So no equipment or software here anymore, all we had crumbled to dust.
TIA

hello: there are tons of ways to create a braille periodic table and threeD
printing is not one of them. Check which app to see if they still have the
excellent one they had. a small format
a threeD printer is not worth the space it takes up. You need to find
something that can print medium size or larger models.

APH has the periodic table in a tactile graph as well as a booklet. I?ve had three different students use these and found them helpful.

Hi Robert,
I checked with APH and they seem to be out of the tactile graph and weren?t sure about the booklet. I?m waiting to hear back from them. They were actually the first place I checked for one.
I?ll keep checking with them.

APH has the periodic table in a tactile graph as well as a booklet. I?ve had three different students use these and found them helpful.

TIA

Lawd have mercy on me ? this will be my first.

TIA

Good Morning!

I'm hoping to gather some recommendations for reliable (and affordable) FM systems (not for student's with hearing aids).
Looking for the following features:

* Directional and omnidirectional (lapel or desktop versions)
* Range appropriate for lecture hall sized room
* Easily programmable/usable
* Possibly able to connect to mic system already in place
* Not too cumbersome/noticeable

I tried looking through the archives, but only saw a few posts from several years ago. I'm just checking to see if anyone has recommendations for companies or products with which they have had success - or companies/products to stay away from.

Any input would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

Kari

Greetings

I couldn?t agree with Lucy more on this one. Start with the basics. You will need a bigger 3D printer than you think to do tactile mottles and it will not do braille anyways.

Check out this for a periodic table as well especially for the students who use braille sparingly or not at all. A braille periodic table may frustrate them mor than help.

I believe there are other accessible options out there but they tend to be web based. This works nicely in a self-contained app.

hello: there are tons of ways to create a braille periodic table and threeD printing is not one of them. Check which app to see if they still have the excellent one they had. a small format
a threeD printer is not worth the space it takes up. You need to find something that can print medium size or larger models.
