And Dragon identifies its “speech to text” tool as “Transcribe”



Camtasia uses the term “Speech to Text to describe its automated “captioning” process.

In my opinion, "speech recognition" is more accurate for the Dragon product. It allows hands-free operation that is so much more than dictation.



I save "speech to text" for describing the comparatively limited dictation functionality on mobile devices.

We are having a debate in our office about when we Dragon software or other similar software should we call it “Speech to Text” or “Speech Recognition” technology.
