[Athen] accessibility resource for students?

Hi all,

At our institution, student organization leaders are busy creating posters for their events and messaging their designs on social media.

One thing I’ve noticed – and I’m pretty sure this has happened in sync with increased use of templated design-your-own tools like Canva and Adobe Express – is that accessibility is becoming a bigger issue with these posters and designs. 

It seems like the templates are co-opted in ways that weren’t intended -- so for example, instead of  using all caps just for the title or italics just for the byline, all caps or italics are used for the entire poster because it looks cool. Lack of contrast due to fancy backgrounds or a cutesy background/foreground interaction is another issue I am seeing with almost every design. 

Do any of you have a good SINGLE SOURCE for accessibility tips that I could pass along to our student leaders? 

I don’t feel like I have one good resource I can point students to and I also don’t feel like I’m an expert and can write something up for them. In students’ busy lives, though, they like to have one resource to go (usually ChatGPT…).
