Dear Colleagues,

We hope to see you at the 25th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium
tomorrow, Friday, May 20th! You do not need to register to attend the
Symposium. However, registration
<https://events.uw.edu/event/021d7e24-1184-4fd7-815c-081f99109311/summary>
is recommended if you would like to encourage students or colleagues to
attend.

*Symposium Day*

The day will begin at 9:30am with virtual sessions and then there will be
an in-person welcome at 11:00am in Mary Gates Hall by UW Provost and
Executive Vice President Mark Richards and Vice Provost and Dean Ed Taylor
who will congratulate presenters and announce the recipients of the annual
Undergraduate Research Mentor Awards. You can find the full event schedule
and more information for Attendees here:
https://www.washington.edu/undergradresearch/symposium/attendees/.

*Presentations *are grouped into sessions by format and theme; you can
search for your mentee’s session in the Online Proceedings
<https://expo.uw.edu/expo/apply/635/proceedings> where all of the students’
abstracts are now available. All presentations take place on Friday, May
20, and will happen in real time, Pacific Daylight Time. *Sessions will not
be available for viewing later.*

- *Poster sessions* are divided into four groups and will be held in
Mary Gates Hall. The sessions will be from 11:00am-1:00pm, 1:00-2:30pm,
2:30-4:00pm and 4:00-5:30pm.
- *Oral presentations* are divided into 2 groups, in classrooms in Mary
Gates Hall, from 1:30-3:00pm and 3:45-5:15pm. Each classroom has a
moderator and a session assistant (i.e., two volunteers). The presentations
are expected to be ~10 minutes long with 2 minutes for Q&A after each
presenter. We encourage everyone to stay for the entire session.
- *Virtual sessions* will be hosted via Zoom by a moderator and a
session assistant (i.e., two volunteers) from 9:30-11:00am and
12:00-1:30pm. There will be a live Q&A period with each presenter after
their video is shown. Zoom links will be posted the day before the
Symposium on the Symposium Proceedings
<https://expo.uw.edu/expo/apply/635/proceedings>. All are able to attend
the Zoom sessions.
- *Visual Arts & Design Presentations* will be held in Odegaard
Undergraduate Library from 2:00-3:30pm.

*Help spread the word! *We now have tools available on the Symposium
website to make it easy for you to share about the Symposium on social
media: https://www.washington.edu/undergradresearch/symposium/toolkit/.

*Here’s how you can help promote the Symposium:*

- Post about the Symposium to your social media accounts and tag your
posts with *#HuskyResearch*.
- Share these tools with others and encourage your colleagues to support
students and undergraduate research in this way.

*COVID-19 Policies*: Please see the information and links at the bottom of
this page
<https://www.washington.edu/undergradresearch/symposium/attendees/> for
protocols and policies. Hand sanitizers will be readily available
throughout the venues and masks will be available at the event. Masking is
strongly recommended for all Symposium presenters and attendees.

We are thrilled that over 700 students will be presenting at the Symposium
this year. Thank you for your support of undergraduate researchers and the
Symposium!

Sincerely,

Tracy & URP Staff
