Meadow Research + Stewardship Collaboration / Hiring

Please share this opportunity with your networks.

--------------------------------------

Hello.

The research and engagement team for the Burke Meadow on the UW campus is hiring for a part-time position (~4 hours/week) to begin in late June or early July 2023 through June 15, 2024. Please see the attached description.

Since 2020 the team which consists of members from the Burke Museum, the departments of Biology and Landscape Architecture, and UW Grounds has been collaborating on the maintenance, monitoring, and project communications for the Burke Meadow, a roughly 10,000 sq. ft. meadow outside the Burke museum.

Primary responsibilities include conducting monthly monitoring of plant communities, assisting in organizing and attending work parties, and facilitating communications and team scheduling.

The position is open to an undergraduate or graduate student at UW. It requires the individual to be able to work both collaboratively and independently, be highly communicative, have strong organizational skills, and be able and willing to work outdoors (sometimes in inclement weather). Preferences are for the individual to have knowledge of Pacific Northwest native plants, knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and work study eligibility.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in working with a highly collaborative team on research and community/capacity building.

If interested, please provide a letter of interest and resume to Ken Yocom (kyocom at uw.edu <mailto:kyocom at uw.edu> ) by June 12, 2023.
