About UWVRC | ||
The University of Washington Virology Research Clinic was established in 1973 to conduct research on viral sexually transmitted infections and is a world-renowned leader in herpes research. Our mission is to investigate the epidemiology and natural history of herpes simplex virus (HSV), and to evaluate new therapies and vaccines for HSV. Currently, our areas of special interest are prevention of HSV transmission, HSV vaccines and the interactions between HSV and HIV. The Virology Research Clinic is always recruiting volunteers to participate in our new studies. Participating in our research is a great way to learn more about genital herpes. Study participants receive extensive education about genital herpes and how to better care for it. Participation in the research studies offers free examinations, free testing for herpes and, often, free medication. For more information, please visit our website.
