Have him open the DragonPad (located on the tools menu of Dragon). See if
he has speech to text there. If so, the problem lies with the Office/Word
interface; if not try a Repair install of Dragon. You can send offline
email to me if you like.ed.

Subject: [Athen] Strange issue with Dragon NaturallySpeaking on a Vista
Machine?

I'm going to go look at this situation later this morning, so as of yet,
don't have all the specifics of what we'll be dealing with but here's what I
know so far:

The system in question is a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with 4 gigs of ram, running
the 32 bit version of Vista Enterprise and Dragon NaturallySpeaking version
10. The user is reporting that is microphone works. he is able to record
sounds in sound recorder and even complete the Dragon training; However, he
is unable to dictate into applications such as Word and Outlook.

Any ideas as to what I should be looking for when troubleshooting this?

Thanks,
