Summary of Duties

The OCIO Accessibility Analyst will promote accessibility in the OCIO as defined by the OSU ADA Coordinator; ensures new software is evaluated and necessary accommodations and/or remediation are negotiated prior to purchase; ensures that existing software is evaluated in a timely manner based on risk, and that proper accommodation and/or remediation efforts are planned and carried through; consults with OCIO departments and vendors to evaluate their products and recommend designs and development strategies to improve the accessibility of their product; ensures an appropriate audit trail is maintained for all evaluations, and that accommodation/remediation efforts are tracked and reported; plans and carries out events to raise awareness of accessibility in the Office of the CIO; offers training opportunities in how to evaluate the accessibility of products, and on best practices in accessible design and coding; participate in efforts of the OSU ADACoordinators Office when needed for the greater good of the University.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; at least 1 year of experience creating and implementing new processes in an information technology organization; experience training information technology staff; understanding of HTML, Javascript, CSS, and XHTML; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to set and meet targets.


Desired Qualifications

Deep understanding of tools to aid in Accessibility evaluation; experience working with people with Disabilities; experience testing for and remediation of accessibility barriers in Web, Mobile, and Native applications; experience using assistive technologies; understanding and passion for Accessibility issues; experience working with developers to guide development of accessible user interfaces; experience in regulatory compliance; significant knowledge of current and emerging accessible development practice and assistive technology; fluency with disability law and regulation in the higher education context.
