Hello Robert,

I have not noticed the behavior that you have mentioned with the latest version of JAWS 18. Of course, that does not mean that there is not a problem with JAWS or that your issues are not common.

Subject: [Athen] issues with latest release of JAWS

Hey all,

Is it just me or have others been having issues with the latest release of JAWS? I'm running version 18.0.4104 and it is giving me problems when working with File Explorer to access drives and folders/files. For example, I go to a flash drive and open a file. When I close the file, the flash drive is still open, but it says unavailable. I cannot access any other file there nor can I close the window. I can open another copy of File Explorer and get to the drive again, but the original window stays open.

Also, first letter navigation doesn't work correctly. For example, I go to a folder and want to move to a file named "Robert". When I type "ro" it takes me to the first file that starts with "r" but will not accept the "o" and find "Robert". I have to keep typing "r" until it gets through all of the "r" files that preceed "Robert".

If I load JAWS 17 or NVDA, I do not have this problem. It just started when I upgraded my version of JAWS 18 to the latest version.
