Alex,

Here are the steps from within YouTube's creator studio. I tried to describe only keyboard navigable steps.

1. Navigate to the video you would like to download captions from, and open that video.
2. Find the Subtitles/CC tab and open it.
3. Go to "Add new subtitles or CC" and then type English. I was not able to choose English without using the mouse, so I typed it and was able to access this menu.
4. Go to "Create new subtitles or CC"
5. Navigate to the Action button, open it, and navigate to Download. The download dialogue box will appear.

The only filetype that can be downloaded using this method is an SBV file, which I have never seen before. I think they used to do SRT files, but it seems the powers that be chose something else.

Hope this is useful.

Subject: [Athen] Captioning YouTube Videos

Hello List

I know that it used to be that you would have to download a caption file from YouTube, edit it and upload it to create accurate captions. It seems now that you can do it from within your YouTube account. Can anyone speak to the ease in doing it this way? Here's the link:
http://ncdae.org/resources/cheatsheets/youtube.php<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fncdae.org%2Fresources%2Fcheatsheets%2Fyoutube.php&data=02%7C01%7Cneal.sorensen%40mnsu.edu%7C1f7798383da3493847aa08d6beb857fb%7C5011c7c60ab446ab9ef4fae74a921a7f%7C0%7C0%7C636906096305260523&sdata=iygTSofSz%2FKfJ5mbwIgihGnUQrQFMoUSTMeXMOgv6TE%3D&reserved=0>
Being a screen reader user myself, I could not figure out how to do it entirely from the keyboard.

Thanks for your insights.
