The Director for Student Disability Resource Center reports to the
Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs and Academic
Support. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate
compliance of the University with Section 504 of the 1973
Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended,
Section 508 and other federal and state guidelines as appropriate, to
facilitate accommodations for students with disabilities for the
Columbia campus and for the 4 regional Palmetto College campuses, and
provide proactive training for faculty, staff, and the Carolina
Community. The director will provide leadership to deliver
accommodations to students with disabilities; administer staff
delivery of services; explore and evaluate new and emerging service
delivery models for students with disabilities; and serve as a
consultant and advisor to many departments within the university and
campus system on matters of compliance, policy, and student
accommodations.
