Just adding a bit more to the great responses that already came through.

You might be able to save yourself some time if you can get the textbook
and lecture notes files in another format. I would check to see if the
instructor used Word to create their lecture notes PDFs; maybe they can
share their original Word files. If there is an HTML copy of the textbook,
your student may be able to use that version with a screen reader without
any additional work on your end.
