[Athen] IT Accessibility roles - how are you structured?

We have a digital accessibility office (DAO) that is housed within the Strategic Resources division (newly formed in the last year). That same division houses Health and Wellness, where Disability Services falls under. It also houses ADA, compliance, and IT. I am the alternate format production program manager, and I am in DS, and supervised by DS, and my role is to directly serve students with alternate format as an accommodation. But all other accessibility issues - that of online platforms, Canvas accessibility, websites, software, etc. fall under the DAO and by extension, IT. The DAO was formed after we were tagged by the Department of Justice for accessibility issues 9 or so years ago. Before that, it was pretty ad hoc how things were handled.

In my previous role at a community college in Missouri, I was housed under IT, but doing the same job I am doing now.

Subject: [Athen] IT Accessibility roles - how are you structured?

Hello ATHEN Community,

We are interested in finding out a bit about how institutions are organizing IT Accessibility roles within your educational institutions. Are they housed within your IT infrastructure? Are they a part of compliance teams? If any of you would be willing to share we would love to hear.
